报告摘要:"Resilience" has become a crucial concept in disaster risk reduction efforts. Many countries around the world have also faced significant earthquake events, such as the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China, the 2016 Gyeongju and 2017 Pohang earthquakes In Korea, and the 2024 Noto earthquake disaster in Japan. Given the difficulties in preventing natural disasters, the focus is shifting to society's ability to recover and reconstruct in post-disaster. This presentation introduces the occurrence of recent earthquakes in Korea, damage situation, and seismic retrofit cases. It also explains the definition of resilience, resilience based seismic design of steel structures, and previous researches. Research results on stainless steel one of resilient materials and stainless steel dampers are presented.

报告人简介:Professor TaeSoo Kim is a faculty member in the Department of Architectural Engineering at Hanyang University ERICA, South Korea, where he has been a professor since March 2022. He previously served as a professor at Hanbat National University from 2016 to 2022. Dr. Kim earned his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan, with a focus on steel structures and finite element analysis. His research interests include structural analysis and design of steel structures, seismic behavior of steel frames, fire safety for steel structures, and advanced finite element modeling techniques using ABAQUS. Dr. Kim has taught a wide range of courses, including steel structures, structural design, and finite element analysis, and has published extensively in international journals. He has also been a visiting scholar at the University of Colorado and the University of Washington, USA. In addition to his academic career, Dr. Kim is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Korean Society of Steel Construction and the Architectural Institute of Korea. He serves as a reviewer and associate editor for various academic journals, including the International Journal of Steel Structures and Thin-Walled Structures.
